About Hayzum

Hayzum started with a simple problem. Every year thousands of Australian students try to estimate their ATAR from a handful of subject scores and end up piecing it together from old forum threads or calculators that were never updated for their state. We wanted something simpler than that.

What we built

Hayzum is a home for the calculators and guides students actually need during senior secondary school. That starts with our ATAR calculator and its state specific versions for New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory. Each state runs its own system so we built each calculator around how that state actually works rather than forcing one formula to fit everywhere.

Alongside ATAR we added tools students ask for once school moves toward university. Our GPA calculator, final grade calculator, weighted grade calculator, attendance calculator and VCE study score calculator all sit in the same tools section so you are not jumping between random sites for each one.

Why we write guides too

A number on a calculator only tells part of the story. Our blog covers the parts that actually confuse people, like what an ATAR really measures, how scaling adjusts your results, and how GPA takes over from ATAR once you reach university. We write these the same way we build the calculators, starting from how the system actually works rather than guessing.

How we keep it honest

Every estimate on Hayzum is labelled as an estimate, never as an official result. We check our calculators and guides against official sources and correct anything we get wrong.
